Sell value or services?

I feel when you are so close to your business you have to be willing to ask the tough questions to people you trust that want you to succeed. Before I went all in with IMC I asked a few people what they thought I should really sell when I would promote my business. The answers I got were like gold to me.
What I found was that I wasn’t going to be selling a service (a website, a video, or email marketing), I was actually going to need to talk about the value I would provide first and then the service second. There are lots, and lots, and lots of people that do what I do and probably what you do. The difference you provide is not the actual service you do, but the value you will be to that person or business that is going to work with you.
What every business relationship comes down to is trust.
Yes people ultimately care about the service that you provide but the value that they see in you and what you provide is a million times more important than that actual service.
Here are several ways to position the value on your website.
- Gather and put testimonials on every page of your website.
- How are you different than another business? List that value as a big bold headline on your home page or about us page.
- Create a video of you talking about how you earn trust with your clients.
- Look at your website page by page and think of the last few talks you’ve had with potential clients. Is what you are selling with the value you provide reflected on your site after you look it over?
Start with value, get the interest from your prospects on your site, then end with the sales for the service you provide.
