Small Business Website Must Haves
Another Monday Morning Website Tip by Marcus Rangel
There are several key things every small business website must have to be successful.
I’m going to break down the top 5 must haves, to keep it short and simple!
A good logo for your small business
You have such a short amount of time to make a great first impression with your website, if you don’t have a good logo, you could immediately lose people as soon as they pull up your site. You should expect to pay at least $400 for a good logo.
A great headshot and great photos of you and your team
Photography sets your website apart. If you want to be seen as the pro in your area, don’t skimp on photos for your website. You should expect to pay at least $500 for a great photography session in your area.
Content that isn’t too long, and that makes people want to read
If you look at any website stat, or analytic, people aren’t staying on websites that long. Make sure your site is “scannable” and not very “wordy.”
A great call to action
You should be guiding your prospect to what you ultimately want them to do throughout your site. If you can get someone to give you their email address in exchange for something with your call to action, this is key! Even if you don’t get the sale but you get an email address, this should be a win in your book!
Testimonials tell your story and back your business up
Gathering testimonials for your website is huge in showing people that others trust you. Don’t ask for paragraphs from people that you’ve worked with, just ask for a sentence or two about why they liked working with you and then showcase that on your site.
Every small business website needs these top 5 things!

About Marcus Rangel
I've been working with small businesses owners to craft not only beautiful custom websites, but clear, clever and concise messages to reach their prospects since 2005.
I officially hung up my "corporate cleats" to be an entrepreneur and small business owner in the summer of 2020. IMC, which started as a side hustle early in the mornings before the sun was even up in 2017, is what led me down this path as a business owner myself. I focus on helping other business owners continually stay in front of people & prospects with digital marketing, create websites that get leads with great engagement, and produce video content that are meant for the digital era we're in.
When I'm not creating, you can find me hanging out with my incredible family on our front lawn or on my OneWheel around the big city of Topeka, KS.

The KC Royals had just one the World Series… finally. They have hours, days in fact of footage to get you hyped about the next season and have everyone ready to buy next years season tickets. As a creative team, we had decided to buy season tickets as giveaways to our team and the credit card was in my hands. I guess I was expecting something magical when I clicked the “buy now” button to…Read More
Let’s face it, people are on your site to see you and what your business offers. Photos are essential for a quality website, but here are some examples of what you should be using. Notice I didn’t say glamour shot, but a high quality headshot to show who you are and often…Read More
Big text, gifs, large photos and “storybrand” conversational copy, it’s all part of how the web is going in 2020. What’s great about these trends is websites are now truly adapting to using the entire screen and they are honestly starting to look like a print pieces. I feel that in 2020, the days of sites having 12 point font should be over. Let’s look at why. Big text, no really big text is awesome!…Read More
