The header on your website should have a call to action

The header, or the very top section of your site, is the most important real estate for an easy call to action. If your website passes the 5 second first glance test, are you asking your prospects to sign up for anything in the header?
If not, here’s why you should.
Did you know that the top half of any website is and has always been the most important, just like the old days of the top half of a newspaper.
It’s the first thing people see if they are on a phone or a computer. It also guides your prospect into your funnel for gaining their email address.
Now not all calls to action are the same, and this needs to be your let’s call it “least resistant” call to action…. Think of it as a great offer with out requiring hardly anything in return except an email address.
Here’s several ideas to get your wheels spinning:
If you ever plan on giving a discount, say this up top.
The last thing you ever want someone to do is visit your site and not buy, but to still get a win in my book would be to gather their email address by giving a promo code or a promise of a discount.

If you do a weekly tip or have a great offer, make this front and center.
Another tip on this, never call this a free newsletter. That tells someone pretty much nothing about what they’ll get in exchange for their email address so don’t expect people to sign up if you say that. But if do send stuff out weekly or have a great lead magnet, put something up top that tells them what they’ll get.

Last, tell your prospect they’ll be the first to know.
No one likes to be last and if you promise them access to be first to know, why would they turn this down?

Now I’m not saying this is the end all be all and you’ll gather thousands of leads on your website, but, the key is how you look at the success of your site and your offers over a long period of time.
P.S. This is kind of like the KC Chiefs, their team isn’t flowing that well right now, but over the long haul of the season they’ll figure it out, I hope 🙂
