My Top 3 Google Analytic Stats to Look At

Have you ever gone into a meeting or argument without data to backup what you are trying to get across? It seems that whenever someone has the data it’s like they have the keys to the kingdom.
Knowing which data though is tough to filter through, especially with google analytics, but there are really only 3 things you need to look at.
Your top visited pages on your site.
I really like to focus on this stat because it shows you the flow of where people are spending time on your site. It also shows you the percentage of total visits on your site that people are spending on this page. It’s still always shocking to me that the about us page is 9 times out of 10 the number one visited page.
The bounce rate.
Hang in there with me – all this means is if someone clicks on your about us page and leaves your site they are considered a bounce on that page. So this stat tells you if your specific pages are the exit point for your site. It also tells you if you should tweak say your about us page if people are leaving. Maybe you should put a call to action within the bio, or towards the top of that page.
Average time on your website.
Most people that have websites think that people read every word and watch every video but the simple truth is they don’t. The average time on your site data set is the first thing to look at to help you understand how long people stay on your site. You are lucky if someone stays on your site for more than a few minutes on average. If you are under the 1 minute mark, it’s time to make some changes!
What should you do with this data?
Use it to make informed decisions! Your website should never stay the same, especially if your data is telling you that you need to make changes. There is always something you could and should be trying to do with your website to make it better.
