What makes a great email signature?

Another Monday Morning Website Tip by Marcus Rangel

Like it or not the days of having a business card on you are not the same as they used to be… I honestly don’t even have one.

So what’s replaced it and what is seen more? A great email signature! Here’s the top 3 things you should have on your email signature.

#1: A Great Photo of Yourself

Nothing says who you are in a thousand words than a great headshot of yourself representing who you are. If you do t have a designed email signature, this is the easiest way to set yourself for success in having it be on there in a circle formatted photo. Check out the one below of the photographer Jen Bertrand – one of my all time fav email signatures! It shows who she is, that she’s fun to work with, and didn’t go cheap with having a great photo taken.

#2 – A P.S. Line

Always put a call to action on your p.s. line – and guess what, people actually read this everytime. Why? Because it catches them off guard!

One of my favorites was seeing a call to action for referrals. It simply said, one of the best compliments is a referral, and I’d love to help people you know. That’s simple, not pushy, and on every email I had seen this person send me. P.S. I copied this on my signature below..

#3 – List Your Important Info

This is easy but don’t burry your phone number in the design of your email signature. Also remember, sometimes it’s better to have your phone number not in the design and clickable so that if someone pulls up your email on their phone it’s very easy for them to call you straight from your email. Check out the 2 differences in the signatures below. Which is easier to click on to call or open up in Google Maps on your phone? If you guessed the bottom one, you are right!

P.S. I bet you read this because it caught your eye and it’s a bit different than most posts or emails right? If you don’t completely change up your email signature, at least at a P.S. line to it today!

About Marcus Rangel

I've been working with small businesses owners to craft not only beautiful custom websites, but clear, clever and concise messages to reach their prospects since 2005.

I officially hung up my "corporate cleats" to be an entrepreneur and small business owner in the summer of 2020. IMC, which started as a side hustle early in the mornings before the sun was even up in 2017, is what led me down this path as a business owner myself. I focus on helping other business owners continually stay in front of people & prospects with digital marketing, create websites that get leads with great engagement, and produce video content that are meant for the digital era we're in.

When I'm not creating, you can find me hanging out with my incredible family on our front lawn or on my OneWheel around the big city of Owasso, OK.

Does your website need help?

Why Website Forms are so important + 3 things to do.

Have you ever filled out a website form and instantly regretted it later? We experienced this when we filled out a form to get a quote from a moving company, they farmed out our name and contact info and we were getting calls every hour for several weeks… it was so bad I had to silence any phone number my phone didn’t recognize. Now I know you would never do that, so let’s talk about what it should look like when someone fills out a form and why it’s important. If you start to think of forms being filled out on your website as the lifeblood of your business online, it can really transform what message you put online, how automated it should be, and…
