Why every small business needs to have good photos on their Google Business Listing

Another Monday Morning Website Tip by Marcus Rangel

Did you know that most first impressions of your business aren’t from your website?

Google your company and look to the right and you’ll see your Google listing starring right back at you. Did you know you or your team can choose exactly what the first picture that shows up on Google is? You can also tell how many people have viewed that photo and others you upload in the Google dashboard.

I helped a local apartment business with their google listing about a year ago and over 90,000 people have viewed the main photo I uploaded for them. Read that again… 90K views!

What should your main photo be? I’ve found that it’s most likely your best shot from your website. That way when they see your “first impression” on Google, and then click to visit your website it’s familiar now to your visitor. You’ll see what I was able to do for Vaerus Aviation below (you can even share your Google listing with a marketing admin if you’re lucky enough to have one 🙂

Now all those (hopefully professional) photos that showcase who you are and what your team does on your website should be uploaded here as well.

Google is the new Yellow Pages, we all know this, but remember how much those Yellow Page listing with actual photos used to cost?

Google is actually letting you do this for free!

What are you waiting for, update your listing and showcase your business the right way!

About Marcus Rangel

I've been working with small businesses owners to craft not only beautiful custom websites, but clear, clever and concise messages to reach their prospects since 2005.

I officially hung up my "corporate cleats" to be an entrepreneur and small business owner in the summer of 2020. IMC, which started as a side hustle early in the mornings before the sun was even up in 2017, is what led me down this path as a business owner myself. I focus on helping other business owners continually stay in front of people & prospects with digital marketing, create websites that get leads with great engagement, and produce video content that are meant for the digital era we're in.

When I'm not creating, you can find me hanging out with my incredible family on our front lawn or on my OneWheel around the big city of Owasso, OK.

Storybrand Video Examples

Using the storybrand method by Donald Miller for a brand video really transforms the engagement of a video. If you’ve ready any of the storybrand books, you know how important being the guide is. I’ve worked with several small businesses to help tell their story through video using the storybrand framework method. Using this method is a game changer because it truly positions the customer as the hero, and the brand or business as the guide. Here’s my favorite storybrand video examples: Erica Kay Design – An interior designer based in Kansas City, MO. NextGen Cattle Co – A cattle company in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Compass Retirement – A financial advisor in Dallas, Texas.

Why you need a website scorecard

How can you tell if your website is successful a year from now? It’s the same way I’m measuring if I can do more pushups than my 6 year old son… who has set the bar of 800 push ups in one day, no kidding. The key is keeping your scorecard of your website stats in front of you and your team every month. Don’t overthink this, there’s only a few things that you should measure monthly with your website and they are: The key to do this is it training you to focus your attention to your website first of all, and then by using that attention to measure if your website is doing what you want, or if it could use a quick…
